Baby Kedinger!

http://www.vimeo.com/2682390

Well I guess the secret is out! We are pregnant. After the last miscarriage we waited  a little longer to launch the news about the pregnancy this time. This is a video of our last ultrasound. The doctor’s office got a new machine that has DVD recording of the ultrasound. At the time of this recording Anna is 11 weeks pregnant!

Watching the video pretty much cemented in my head the reality that we are having a baby. To see a life dancing around on a screen shows you there is more than just a blob of tissue in my wife’s stomach. So awesome! The coolest part of the whole video is at the very end when the baby does this little kick! The baby of course has a boney butt just like mine. :-)

NB: We will eventually be launching a baby blog (baby.kedinger.com)…so keep your eyes peeled.

TiVo…I love you

I think this is a whole new world of happiness for me. I have just discovered that TiVo has struck a deal with Domino’s that allows you to order pizza directly through your TiVo. You can go through all the steps and pick the type of pizza, sides, and drinks all through the TV. Then it will submit the order to your local Domino’s and even give you status on the order. All that is required is setting up a Domino’s account online.

Amazing! I can’t wait to convince my wife to let me try this!

I am testing out the new iPhone Wordpress App. Pretty slick and very seamless.

iPhone 2.0 Firmware

Being the uber-apple-geek that I am I have been watching with hawk eyes for the new updates Apple has been passing down to their various services. MobileMe was up for a few minutes this morning…then the App Store is actually live on iTunes (just search for something like aim then hit the back button to see all apps)…and of course iPhone 2.0 was sneakily released!

If you are brave and want the official update now before waiting for those pesky waiting periods you can follow the instructions below to get the update!

  1. Go here and download the new version of iTunes 7.7
  2. Download the iPhone 2.0 firmware here. (It is 225MB so start your downloading right away!)
  3. Hook up your iPhone to your laptop and open iTunes.
  4. Sync your phone so that it has a current backup!
  5. After syncing go to the iPhone Summary screen and while holding the Option key click the “Check for Update” button. (UPDATE: If you are on a PC hold the Ctrl + Shift key when click the “Check for Update” button)
  6. Then browse to the file you downloading and begin your update process
  7. After all the patient waiting…welcome to iPhone 2.0!

DISCLAIMER: I am just passing information on that I found at MacRumors.com and they as well mention that I make no promises that this process will work! If you brick your phone it’s not my fault. I myself have done this and other’s I know as well. It works. All the apps work and everything seems kosher.

My Wallet is Preaching to Me

You know sometimes God just reminds you about stuff when you least expect it. My wallet was getting obnoxiously fat today (not from money of course) so I decided to do a bit of spring cleaning. I went through and removed unneccesary receipts, took out business cards collected from contacts, and shed old membership cards (blockbuster, etc.). As I was hunting through I stumbled upon a folded piece of paper in the “hidden” fold of my wallet, usually the place where I put mementos or little keepsakes.

As I unfoled this mysterious little slip of paper I realized that it was much more than a just a scripture quote, but God preaching to me through my wallet. Life has been really busy recently. I just got married, we are swamped at work (which is awesome), and I am trying to transition my life from single and living in a suitcase to married and having a home all the while budgeting and planning our future life. What new bills do we have, how much is the insurance going to be with two people, grocery budgets, and everything else that newly married couples are hit with in the first few weeks! All kinds of things swarm through my head during the day and then amidst the chaos God drops this note on me.

From the Sermon on the Mount, Gospel of St. Matthew 6:25-34

“Therefore I bid you put away anxious thoughts about food and drink to keep you alive, and clothes to cover your body. Surely life is more than food, the body more than clothes. Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow and reap and store in barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. You are worth more than the birds! Is there a man of you who by anxious thought can add a foot to his height? And why be anxious about clothes? Consider how the lilies grow in the fields; they do not work, they do not spin; and yet, I tell you, even Solomon in all his splendor was not attired like one of these. But if that is how God clothes the grass in the field, which is there today, and tomorrow is thrown on the stove, will he not all the more clothe you? How little faith you have! No, do not ask anxiously, “What are we to eat? What are we to drink? What shall we wear?’ All these are things for the heathen to run after, not for you, because your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. Set your mind on God’s kingdom and his justice before everything else, and all the rest will come to you as well. So do not be anxious about tomorrow; tomorrow will look after itself. Each day has troubles enough of its own.”

the Wi-fi Honeymoon

The picture above is from what has become one of our favorite stops in Montreal. It is a Canada coffee shop called “Second Cup”. It is a chain but is a pretty nice little place. Their espresso is really smooth and doesn’t taste bitter at all. We would probably be frequenting our neighborhood Starbucks if they were corporate run stores (no discount from licensed stores). Also they don’t have free wireless access.

We have been under alot of flack from people recently about our internet activity during our honeymoon and we just want to pass on that WE ARE ENJOYING OURSELVES! We have seen alot of Montreal and are heading to Quebec tomorrow. The city is really interesting and we have seen some cool places. The food stops that our travel guide has recommended haven’t disappointed us yet. The food has been awesome! But Anna and I realize that we are internet people. We check email, we surf the net, facebook, and research gobs of info (such as weather, travel spots, and other tidbits of useful Canadian knowledge). We also were so unbelievably anxious to check out some wedding pictures from Jason Cohen, our wedding photographer’s blog that we had to find some suitable internet.

So if you see us on facebook, twitter, gchat, my blog, whatever…we are just getting our daily fix. We can’t wait to get back to the states and pass on the jewels of our trip!

Thanks,
Daniel & Anna Kedinger

Laura Peek and the Winning Hearts

This is a really cool video and song. I wish they had the CD on iTunes. The only way I can find to buy it is through their record label (Just Friends Records) site and it feels kinda of sketchy! Let me know if you find the tunes somewhere else.

Airport Express…what I have learned

This little thing stressed me out...but finally works.

Well after a couple of days FIGHTING with my new Airport Express I have learned a few things.

I submit my struggles and some hints.

  • Don’t try to install multiple network devices at the SAME TIME.
  • Firmware updates are hairy business…be sure things are hard lined and secure.
  • Forums can be your best friend.
  • Search Google and just dig when you get lost.
The Airport Express has some pretty impressive features. I am going to list (more…)

What I Spend My Time On

I used to have this on my blog a long time ago, but after the great kedinger crash of 2006 it never made it back up! Thanks to my buddy Ben Spell for reminding me about it!
